GIRL ON FILM
Musician / Photographer Andrew Kerr keeping things analog in the Palm Beach sunset.
It was one of those evenings: a subtropical winter sunset that glowed soft and golden. Long shadows laying across the sand, stretching out to sea. The water was the same temperature as the air, the waves rolled the seashells back and forth in the surf like pale sequins.
The photographer, Andrew Kerr, shoots on 35mm film using a point and shoot camera. He is mostly a musician, playing drums for the B Boys and Chaucer, and splits his time between South Florida and NYC. More of his work can be found here, and it's well worth checking out.
He also happens to be very very good and capturing moments on film. Moments that feel very real, familiar, almost nostalgic.
The model, Daly, is a young, vibrant woman who has an energy that is almost palpable. She is a life-long swimmer, and walked into the waves as though she was actually a part of the sea.
If you look at Andrew's instagram feed (@young__rodney), you will find an observant look at life: like his camera is a remote control with only a Pause Button. Faces of friends, faces of animals, light falling through windows, and moments in the recording studio. Humor that feels like an inside joke. And, E.T.
Kerr is a Florida native, born and raised in Delray. In his photos, life feels really... real. Each image is like a memory of last summer: that crazy day that lasted 48 hours and everything and nothing happened.
Here's to living in the moment, forever.
